We’re not ready — so let’s do it!

Here I am sitting on a screened in porch in the north Georgia mountains. It’s a beautiful day and I am in awe of the Creator who made such breathless sights and sounds. I just finished reading the next chapter in our book and find in pretty amazing. Amazing that just last week we talked about doing a mission trip together. And about thinking outside the box for that mission trip. This chapter reinforces all we were talking about. I yearn to embrace the mystery, to live in wonderment, to throw out my self imposed logical limits, to be surprised, overwhelmed and astonished, to allow God to transcend the cage and box I have perceived Him to inhabit.
So why don’t we list all of our assumptions about mission trips, or more particularly a mission trip for the Deep Bible Guys. What a wonderful exercise. After getting everyone’s assumptions we can begin to look at those assumptions with the critical realism of theology without obscured vision. We might even let our collective imaginations overtake our memory.
So I will cogitate a little more here in the part of God’s creation, not fettered by my normal routine and having changed my geography, and I will under a separate post list some assumptions about missions trips. Let’s all try to post our own assumptions and comment on others – should make for a lively meeting on October 15th.
I sit here praying and thanking God for the orbits, the trees, the squirrels, the deer, and His grace – I’m overwhelmed.

I’m jealous! It sounds wonderful up there. We’ve postponed our meeting tomorrow morning and will pick back up with you next week on the current lesson.
